A practical first step
Shopify says you can print labels purchased through Shopify on a standard desktop printer. Select the 8.5 × 11 inch paper option. Install the printer using its manufacturer’s instructions and make sure it is connected to your computer.
- Purchase and open your shipping label in Shopify.
- Select the 8.5 × 11 inch paper option and your desktop printer.
- Check the print preview, then print and make sure the barcode is clear and the label is complete.
- Attach the label securely and keep the barcode readable. Follow your carrier’s packaging and label instructions.
When to consider a dedicated printer
If you ship frequently, a dedicated label printer may make repetitive printing more convenient. Compare your workflow, the exact device compatibility, connection, supplies and ongoing costs before deciding. A standard printer may be enough when you ship occasionally.
