MAC GUIDE

How to Print Shopify Shipping Labels on a Mac

Whether you already own a printer or are considering a dedicated label printer, start with the exact model and the right paper setting.

Choose your printer

Shopify’s supported printer documentation lists the DYMO LabelWriter 5XL (2112554), Brother QL-1110NWB, Zebra ZD220 and Zebra ZD421 for Mac. Its table identifies the first and ZD220 as USB, and the Brother and ZD421 as wireless. Check your exact model, macOS version, drivers and connection instructions before purchase.

Prepare and print

  1. Install and connect your printer using the manufacturer’s instructions, then confirm your Mac recognizes it.
  2. In Shopify, open the shipping label you purchased and select the format appropriate to your printer and supplies.
  3. In the print dialog, check the selected printer, paper size and orientation. For a standard desktop printer, Shopify says to select 8.5 × 11 inch paper.
  4. Print a test and check that the complete label and barcode are legible before attaching it to a package.

If the output looks wrong

Check the selected paper size and scaling, the printer’s driver and the connection. Follow the printer manufacturer’s instructions and Shopify’s current help; label formats and dialogs can change.

Not ready to buy a label printer?

A standard desktop printer can print Shopify labels too.
